eKapija: You recently transformed the intermodal terminal department, where did such a need come from in Nelt?

Ivan Milićević, manager of intermodal transport development and operations:

- The transformation of our intermodal terminal division into an intermodal transportation division marks a significant step in Nelt`s strategic growth. This change reflects our commitment to expand resources and improve our logistics network. From the launch of the Nelt terminal in Dobanovci in December 2016 and the recent addition of the Kruševac terminal in September 2023, we have formed a robust network of intermodal terminals. This strategic growth is closely aligned with our customers` ESG strategies (environmental, social and governance), ensuring we contribute to more sustainable and efficient supply chains. We also plan to develop new locations to further expand our intermodal terminal network.

Jelena Jovanić, manager of sales and development of intermodal transport:

- Despite the busy nature of the intermodal market, Nelt has managed to maintain stability through strategic planning and solid operational frameworks. Our latest service, the Nelt public train, launched in April 2024, is a testament to our resilience and innovation. With this service, we transport containers on a regular weekly basis from the Port of Rijeka to the intermodal terminals Nelt Dobanovci and Nelt Kruševac and vice versa to all interested clients. This initiative not only strengthens our network but also provides reliable and efficient solutions for our clients. Looking ahead, we have plans to further develop this service, increasing its frequency and expanding its reach to meet growing market demands.

How does the Nelt intermodal transportation network support sustainability in supply chains?

Ivan Milićević:

- Our intermodal transportation network plays a key role in the transition of supply chains to greater sustainability. By integrating rail transport, we are significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional road transport. In addition, our strategic investments in renewable energy sources, such as solar energy installations at our terminals, further enhance the sustainability of our business. This approach is not only in line with our clients` ESG goals, but also underlines Nelt`s commitment to environmentally responsible logistics solutions.
