Ceremony of Opening of Centers of Excellence in Kragujevac Planned for Spring – Official Beginning of Operations in June

The centers of excellence in Kragujevac should be opened this spring, whereas the official beginning of the operations is expected in June, it was announced during the tour of the construction sites of the centers. The value of the construction of the facilities is EUR 18 million, whereas the value of the equipment is around EUR 4 million.

During her visit to the construction sites of the Centers of Excellence in Kragujevac, the minister of science, technological development and innovations at the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Begovic, said that the city would soon get centers where the best researchers, professors, but also young scientists, would have an opportunity to contribute to the development of biological sciences and information technologies in excellent conditions, thanks to the modern infrastructure.

The rector of the University of Kragujevac, Nenad Filipovic, reminded that, on an area of 11,500 square meters, the centers of excellence will feature a section for education of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Kragujevac, a section for the Institute of Information Technologies, and that a section in the new space would also be meant for stem cell research.

Over 300 researchers are expected to work here, and around 1,500 students will attend lectures in this location.
