Deadline for construction of Center of Excellence in Kragujevac prolonged

(Planned look of the complex) The deadline for the construction of the Centers of Excellence in Kragujevac, which expires near the end of the current year, has been prolonged due to numerous problems that arose during the construction.
The investment, from which both the city and the state stand to benefit, is worth EUR 14 million, and the money for the realization has been secured through loans from the European Investment Bank.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, the local self-government and the University of Kragujevac are also taking part in financing the project.
The construction of the Centers of Excellence is a strategic step towards maintaining the national interest, which will enable a connection between various fields of science – medicine, biology, biomedicine, chemistry, technical and engineering sciences and biomedical engineering.
The 11,500-m2 facility is being built in close proximity to the Rectorate of the University of Kragujevac.
The construction and the equipping of this science institution will create conditions for research, storage and usage of stem cells for the first time in Serbia. In addition to the development of science, this will also contribute to the preservation of the genome of the nation.
The Centers of Excellence will employ young scientists. This is another benefit from the construction of this institution, seeing how educated young people are leaving Serbia looking for jobs. Their employment at the Centers of Excellence will also be significant for the City of Kragujevac.
