October new deadline for completion of fast route Iverak-Lajkovac, minister announces

The fast route Iverak-Lajkovac, which will connect Valjevo with the Milos Veliki Highway, will be completed in October at the latest. This was announced by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

– In September, and by October at the latest, the fast route Iverak-Lajkovac will be completed. In addition to that, in Valjevo itself, Suvoborska Street will be reconstructed, for which slightly over EUR 2 million has been set aside within the LIID project. These are all preconditions for each one of our cities to develop, to carry out a true regionalization, because each project has to result in a better life for people – minister Vesic said during his visit to Valjevo.

Deadlines moved several times

The works on the construction of the fast route, worth RSD 158 million, started four years ago. The deadlines for the completion of the works have been moved several times.

In March 2021, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, while visiting the site in Divci, announced that the fast route would be completed by the end of 2022.

A new promise arrived for the first quarter of 2023 from the then minister Tomislav Momirovic, who made that promise in August 2022.

The new deadline for the completion of the works on the construction of the fast route to Valjevo is October this year.

In December last year, Vucic opened the 12-km Lajkovac-Divci section of the fast route.

The works on a length of 18.3 kilometers are carried out by the Chinese company China Shandong.

The 18.3-km Iverak-Lajkovac section, with two lanes in each direction, designed for a speed of up to 100 km/h, will connect Valjevo with the Milos Veliki Highway, as well as parts of Republika Srpska, that is, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the Milos Veliki Highway and farther, through Corridor 10, with Bulgaria and Greece.
