New projects in Vojvodina planned with Chinese companies – Fast route from Novi Becej to Zrenjanin and reconstruction of Pancevo-Subotica and Sombor-Vrbas railroads

Chinese companies are currently engaged in the construction of the fast railroad from Novi Sad to Subotica, whose completion is expected by the end of July, and it is expected to open to traffic from December this year, as is the Fruska Gora Corridor. The Chinese are also working on the “Vojvodina Smile” fast route, from Backi Breg to Srpska Crnja, as well as on the Belgrade-Zrenjanin highway.

However, Serbia is also planning new projects in Vojvodina with Chinese companies, announces the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

– One of them is the fast route from Novi Becej to Zrenjanin, which is supposed to link the Belgrade-Zrenjanin highway and the “Smiley”. We also plan to reconstruct the railroad from Pancevo to Subotica and the Sombor-Vrbas railroad – said Vesic.

At the recent opening of the Lianbo factory in Kac, the prime minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic, mentioned that China had become the biggest individual foreign direct investor in Serbia.

– So far, we have most frequently seen Chinese companies engaged in large infrastructural projects. Now a new era of the business-economic cooperation with Chinese companies which open factories here has begun. Without downplaying the importance of large infrastructural projects, and in Vojvodina, these are the Fruska Gora Corridor and the fast railroad, which has the most direct impact possible on the quality of life of our citizens – emphasized Vucevic.
