Jovanovic: Purchase of Siemens trams produced in Kragujevac for GSP Beograd should be considered

The city authorities in Belgrade should consider the purchase of Siemens trams produced in Kragujevac, pointed out the director of the Center for Local Self-Government, Nikola Jovanovic.

In a written statement, Jovanovic reminds that, three years ago, the then deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, announced the possibility of the purchase of Siemens trams that are produced in Kragujevac, for the purposes of GSP Beograd.

– How come that these trams were being considered for purchase less than three years ago, and today, those who run the city are considering buying some trams from unknown manufacturers, while there is our factory which operates under a world-famous brand only 140 km away from Belgrade? – Jovanovic asked.

He pointed out that the Siemens Mobility factory in Kragujevac could produce trams for the track width that was present in Belgrade.

– Let’s solve that dilemma as well – yes, it can. This factory produces trams for a track width of 1,435 millimeters, Avenio model, and for a track width of 1,000 millimeters, Avenio M model – said Jovanovic.
