Hungary Commences Construction of New Block of Paks Nuclear Power Plant

The construction of the sixth block of the nuclear power plant Paks in Hungary began with earth works in the location where the block is to be built. The news about the beginning of this jobs was announced by Peter Szijjarto, the minister of foreign affairs and trade of Hungary. As he said, the targeted deadline for the completion of the construction is 2030 and, according to Szijjarto’s estimate, it is realistic, MTI reports.


The first works are being done at a depth of five meters, and as Szijjarto clarifies, some parts of the sixth block will be at a depth of up to 23 meters, in order to secure the stability and safety of the block.

Between 30 and 40 trucks are currently working on the excavation works.
