Serbia and Hungary Sign Agreements on Construction of Oil Pipeline and Founding of Joint Company for Gas Trade

Serbia and Hungary signed several agreements today in Palic, in the presence of the topmost authorities of both countries. The agreements will ensure the further strengthening of the cooperation and they include agreements in the fields of defense and internal affairs, as well as the construction of a new oil pipeline and the founding of a joint company for gas trade, the Government of Serbia announced.

The agreements were signed following the first session of the Strategic Council for Cooperation of Serbia and Hungary, which was attended by the presidents of Serbia and Hungary, Aleksandar Vucic and Katalin Novak, as well as the countries’ prime ministers, Ana Brnabic and Viktor Orban.

Vucic and Novak signed the Joint Political Statement on the Founding of the Strategic Council for Cooperation Between Serbia and Hungary.

The Agreement on Cooperation Between the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing of Hungary and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia (asylum-seeking and migrations) was signed by the first deputy prime minister of Serbia and minister of foreign affairs, Ivica Dacic, and the minister of foreign affairs and external trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto.

Dacic and Szijjarto also signed the Agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on the amendments to the Agreement on the Control of Border Traffic in Road, Rail and Water Traffic, as well as the Protocol on Collocation in the Embassy of Serbia in Kinshasa between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

The Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of the Hungary-Serbia oil pipeline was signed by the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic, and Szijjarto.

The agreement between Serbia and Hungary about the exchange and mutual protection of classified information was signed by the director of the Office of the National Security Council and Classified Information Protection, Goran Matic, and Szijjarto.

The annual work plan for 2022/23 based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Hungary about expert help in negotiations on Serbia’s accession to the EU was signed by the minister of justice of Serbia, Maja Popovic, and the minister of justice of Hungary, Judit Varga.

The agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on the improved strategic cooperation in the field of defense was signed by the deputy prime minister and minister of defense of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, and the minister of defense of Hungary, Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky.


The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia and the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary about the modernization and digitization in the field of agriculture was signed by the respective ministers Jelena Tanaskovic and Istvan Nagy.

The agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Hungary on cooperation in the development and improvement of the road infrastructure was signed by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, and the minister of construction and transport of Hungary, Janos Lazar.

The statement on the intent on the electronic exchange of data between the Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance of Serbia and the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary was signed by the director of the Customs Administration of Serbia, Branko Radujko, and the minister of finance of Hungary, Mihaly Varga.

The Agreement on the founding of SERBHUNGAS LLC Novi Sad was signed as well, by the director of the PE Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, and the director general of MVM CEEnergy Zrt, Laszlo Zoltan Fritsch.
