PE Railway Infrastructure of Serbia has announced tenders for the conceptual projects for the reconstruction of the Vrbas-Sombor and Pancevo Glavna-Zrenjanin-Banatsko Milosevo-Senta-Subotica railroads.

As stated in the technical specifications of the tender, the modernization of the Bac and Banat railway lines is planned under the Program for the Reconstruction and Modernization of Regional Railways on the Railway Network of the Republic of Serbia, launched by the relevant ministry in cooperation with the PE Railway Infrastructure of Serbia.

This program envisages the reconstruction, modernization and electrification of the Vrbas-Sombor railway, from the exit switch at Vrbas station at km 38+020, to the exit switch at Sombor station at km 97+048.

The Vrbas-Sombor railroad is a single-track non-electrified railway with a speed of up to 40 km/h on open track. It was opened for traffic in 1906.

After the reconstruction, which will include stops, road crossings, bridges, culverts and drainages, as well as the creation of prerequisites for combined transport, the driving speed will be increased to 120 km/h.

The tender expires on May 12.

On the Pancevo Glavna-Zrenjanin-Banatsko Milosevo-Senta-Subotica railroad, which consists of the sections Pancevo Glavna-Zrenjanin-Banatsko Milosevo with a length of 126.18 km and Banatsko Milosevo-Senta-Subotica with a length of 73.58 km, the maximum speed is up to 80 km/h

These railways are all single-track and non-electrified, opened for traffic between 1883 and 1896.

They are also scheduled for complete reconstruction and electrification, with an increase in speed up to 120 km/h.

The tender is open until May 11.
