The National Assembly has adopted the Law on Consumer Protection, which provides several novelties and ratifies several agreements.

The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matić, said that the biggest novelty brought by the Law on Consumer Protection is "out-of-court settlement between the seller and the damaged buyer".

One of the novelties is the introduction of the "do not call" register, as well as the mandatory issuance of a pro forma invoice for handyman services in excess of RSD 5,000.

The "do not call" register introduces a list of mobile and fixed telephones that traders will no longer be allowed to call in order to offer their goods or services, and citizens who do not wish to be called for that purpose will be able to forward their numbers to their respective operators.

When it comes to protecting citizens from unfair handymen, the handymen will have to make a pro forma invoice for all services that cost more than RSD 5,000, to which the users of their services must agree in writing.
