The Draft Law on the Amendments to the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources will be put on the agenda of the Parliament today. As eKapija learns, it will feature more favorable conditions for producers-consumers (prosumers) of electrical energy compared to the draft amendments adopted by the government.

The Ministry of Energy took into consideration numerous requests for the contentious provision to be changed and formed temporary solutions, according to which prosumers-legal persons will be able to connect power plants with a maximum power of 5 MW to the network, whereas, for households, a limitation of 10.8 kW will be in effect.

That is a considerable increase compared to the Draft Law on the Amendments to the Law on the Use of RES which the government adopted last month, where it was envisaged for the households which want to become prosumers in Serbia not to be able to connect solar power plants with a capacity higher than 6.9 kW, whereas the maximum power for companies was limited to only 150 kW.

Numerous experts believed that such a limitation of the power of solar panels which could be installed could have seriously slowed down the “solar boom” in Serbia.
