Serbian Parliament Supports Proposal to Change Constitution

The Serbian parliament has accepted the proposal to change the Constitution of Serbia and thus gave its consent to change the highest legal act of the state.

A two-third majority was needed to decide on the proposed change to the Constitution, and out of 213 deputies present, 207 voted for, three were against, two were abstained and one deputy did not vote.

The prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, pointed out that the goal was for Serbia to get the judiciary of a modern and contemporary country, which will enable equal rights for all, the rule of law, fast and achievable justice and economic progress, the Government of Serbia announced.


The adoption of the proposal to change the Constitution should be followed by the preparation of the amendments, that is the text for the change of the Constitution which pertains to the justice system, another voting session at the parliament and then a referendum for the citizens.
