The PE Roads of Serbia and Hrvatske Autoceste have signed a memorandum of business cooperation which will enable integrated toll collection on the highways through Croatia and Serbia.

On behalf of the PE Roads of Serbia, the memorandum was signed by the CEO of the company Zoran Drobjak, with the director of Hrvatske Autoceste, Boris Huzjan, as announced on the website of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

– At the beginning of July, we initiated the process of integrated toll collection between Serbia and North Macedonia and we already have fantastic results. Over 12,000 reconfigurations, and every day we have around 1,000 passengers doing the reconfiguration. From September, we will also have this with Croatia, so everybody with Serbian tags will be able to pass the toll booths in Croatia without a problem, and those with Croatian tags will be able to pass the toll booths in Serbia without waiting – minister Goran Vesic said after the signing of the memorandum.

He added that there were 700,000 users of electronic tags for toll collection in Serbia.

– There are more of them than those who pay the toll in cash, but as you can see, there are never traffic jams at the toll booths where there are electronic tags, and there are always traffic jams, especially in the summer, where cash is used. This only shows how much faster and better it is to use an electronic tag – Vesic said.

The minister for human and minority rights and social dialogue at the Government of Serbia, Tomislav Zigmanov, pointed to the importance of cooperation between Serbia and Croatia, especially in solving concrete problems.

– It begins with the solving of what at first sight may seem to be less important problems, such as integrated toll collection, which are in fact important to the citizens – Zigmanov said and added that this would facilitate the flow of services, goods and people.
