Vucic: Belgrade-Subotica railroad to open on November 24

The Belgrade-Subotica railroad will open to traffic on November 24, pointed out the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic. At the building of the Rail Station in Subotica, which is now being completed, he said that it was the 12th station on the newly built railroad, 108.1 kilometers long.

– In two years, it will take two hours and 40 minutes between Belgrade and Budapest. I am grateful to our Chinese friends, because without them, we would not be able to achieve this speed of development. With the help of the Chinese, we have completed this railroad a year earlier – said Vucic.

He added that he did have one big complaint, because the station in Subotica should also have signs in the Hungarian language.

– The station will not open until there are signs in Hungarian, first in Serbian, then in Hungarian, and then in English. I am proud of our Serbia and everything we have done, nobody can take that away from us – Vucic said and added that plenty needed to be invested in Banat.

He said that, if the money is secured, the construction of the railroad from Pancevo through Opovo, Zrenjanin, Milosevo, to Kikinda and the left leg, that is, west and northwest toward Subotica, to connect Coka and Subotica as well, will begin soon.

– Then it remains to build the railroad to Sombor, Vrbas, 53 kilometers, so that the people of Sombor, people from the West Backa District, can reach the fast railroad. Later on, Sombor and Subotica as well, but that requires a lot of money, really a lot – said Vucic.
