Vesic: 30 Kilometers of Danube Corridor Route by End-Year, Whole Project to Be Finished “Long Before the Deadline”

By the end of the year, 30 kilometers of the Danube Corridor route, the fast traffic route from the highway to Pozarevac, Veliko Gradiste and Golubac, will open to traffic, and since the works are going as planned, this corridor will be completed long before the deadline, the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, assures.

While taking a tour of the works on the Danube Corridor, Vesic reminded that this was the first part of the Danube Corridor, which connected east Serbia for a total length of 67 kilometers, and added that the entire project would be completed at least a year, if not more, before the deadline.

Vesic reminded that the works were being done by Shandong and added that they were one of the two best Chinese companies in Serbia, as proven by that project as well, according to him.

– Pozarevac is one of the cities which will be connected to the network of highways and fast routes this year, which will attract investments and secure a better connection with Kostolac – said Vesic.

The director of the PE Corridors of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, specified that, up till that point, 2.9 million cubic meters of the material had been built into the embankment which would support the road and that the load-bearing layers had as much as 380,000 of rock aggregates. The paving has begun as well, since the weather conditions are favorable for the contractors, so the first layer of the asphalt has already been laid down on 15 kilometers, and a second layer has also been laid down on nine kilometers.

Let us remind that, last autumn, minister Vesic, when the paving of the first section of the Danube Corridor began, pointed out that it would be fully finished at the end of 2025.
