At the opening of the highway from Ruma to Sabac, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that the newly built Kraljevica stadium in Zajecar will be opened on November 19, and this weekend Vucic visited this stadium, built according to UEFA standards, together with the president of the European Football Union Aleksandar Ceferin and other officials, who symbolically opened the stadium.

The capacity of the new Kraljevica stadium, which was under construction for two and a half years, is 8,168 places, and the entire project cost RSD 3.3 billion.

When asked when we could expect a major competition in which our country will be the organizer, the President of Serbia stated that better infrastructure and a finished National Stadium are needed for that.

- We sent an official letter asking for the Europa League final to be played in Serbia, as soon as we build the National Stadium, which will be ready by December 1, 2026. We need better infrastructure for competitions. More stadiums. We are far from Spain, England, Germany - said Vucic.

And Ceferin added that Serbia is still far away.

- If there is better infrastructure, everything is possible, so far it is has been difficult - Ceferin said.

Vucic indicated that the stadiums Cair in Nis and Cika Daca in Kragujevac will be reconstructed, and the Rajko Mitic stadium in Belgrade will be reconstructed.

Kraljevica sports complex

The Kraljevica Stadium is located within the Sports and Recreational Complex and is one of three, alongside Leskovac and Loznica, built in accordance with the highest UEFA standards.

As the local Zamedia reported, Zajecar's most modern sports building covers over 11,000 square meters. The stadium, which has similar appearance as the much larger Allianz Arena in Munich, has special separate entrances for both football teams and is completely covered by CCTV cameras that guarantee high security. The audience enters through the so-called security combs next to which are bar code ticket reading systems. Enjoying football matches is also made possible for people with disabilities and their companions. It has state-of-the-art lighting, sound system, led screens, VAR room, about 20 points for refreshments, rooms for media coverage of matches.
