Ring Road Around Zlatibor to Connect to Pozega-Kotroman Highway – RSD 450 Million Set Aside for Construction

The ring road around Zlatibor will connect to the Pozega-Kotroman highway, and RSD 450 million has been set aside for the works on this project.

According to the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Goran Vesic, a part of the funds is invested by the municipality of Cajetina as well, says the website of the Government of Serbia.

– The future ring road around Zlatibor will considerably accelerate and facilitate arrival to the most visited Serbian mountain, but also redirect a good portion of the traffic for those for whom this mountain is not the end destination – Vesic said.

While visiting the works on the construction of said ring road, he said that works on a section of 1.6 kilometers were in progress and added that the route would enable the bypassing of Zlatibor for all those for whom it is not the final destination and that it would also contribute to a cleaner air and environmental protection.

– This year, 15 kilometers of the main road toward Montenegro, from Cajetina to Borova Glava, will be reconstructed – Vesic said and added that it was the worst part of the road and that the works would start in September or October.

As he announced, the competent ministry will work on establishing a gondola between Tornik and Pribojska Banja with the municipalities of Cajetina and Priboj. He also noted that the project would unify the tourism offers of Zlatibor, Zlatar and Priboj.

According to him, a fast route from Nova Varos to Duga Poljana would also be built, which would connect that part of western Serbia with the future highway to Montenegro.
