The deadline for the construction of the railroad from Zemun Polje to the future National Stadium in Surcin is 18 months from the completion of the technical documentation, said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

According to him, the projected train speeds for the new railroad will be up to 120 km/h, and the trains will operate every 30 minutes, and in certain hours every 15 minutes, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

In a statement for TV Prva, Vesic said that the project documentation would be completed by the end of 2023 and that the technical documentation was expected to be completed by mid-2024, meaning that the contractor would be selected not long after and that the contractor would be given a year and a half to bring the project to a close.

He explained that it would be a wholly new railroad, with a total length of 18 kilometers.

In addition to the national stadium, he noted, a complex would be built for the purposes of the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027, and the rail station will be around 400 meters away from the stadium, so it will cover both the stadium and EXPO.
