The presidents of Serbia and Montenegro, Aleksandar Vucic and Jakov Milatovic, talked in Belgrade about important issues – from infrastructural question, construction of highways which would connect the two countries and shorten the travel time between Belgrade and Podgorica to 4.5 hours, the need for the further construction of railroads, to the further connecting in the sense of energy.

This, Vucic says, pertains to the Pljevlja-Bajina Basta pipeline, about which there are technical disagreements and problems, which was analyzed today.

There was also talk about the announcement from Montenegro, which intends to establish a liquefied gas terminal in Bar.

– Serbia is interested in purchasing a part of the liquefied gas, so we are ready to have steel pipes go toward the measuring stations which would be located in Bijelo Polje. So, Zlatibor-Prijepolje-Bijelo Polje measuring station, so that we could connect and take considerable quantities of that gas – Vucic said.

He said that it would be possible to take 2.7 million cubic meters a day, which, he points out, is not enough, but would help increase the security of the supply and the diversification of the gas supply in the future.

Introduction of direct payment transactions

There was also talk about the possibility of introducing direct payment transactions between Serbia and Montenegro, and Vucic said that it was an important issue and one of the obstacles to the development of business and economic relations between the two countries.

– I wouldn’t like to say anything about who the culprit is, but I just want you to know that everything is entirely clear on our side. Something else is the issue here. The majority of correspondent banks in Montenegro are from Switzerland and Germany, so they want to work with that. Here, it has been functioning with Bosnia and Herzegovina for 15 years, and the currency there is the convertible mark. Regarding the principles of international clearing, there are no problems there – Vucic said.

The president of Serbia also pointed out that the allegations that Banka Postanska Stedionica would buy Prva Banka Crne Gore were not true.
