Jovanovic pointed out that one of the most important digitization projects in Serbia, realized by the ministry – was being implemented successfully, namely, the telecommunications infrastructure ensuring fast internet, connection speed of over 100 Mbps in rural areas of Serbia.
– The ministry has made the plan to introduce fast internet to over 700 villages by the end of 2025, to establish over 4,700 kilometers of optical cable routes for that purpose and to connect over 120,000 households and around 720 school facilities – he specified and added that, in Kalanjevci, 15 houses had already used the opportunity and got their connections.
He emphasized that the new Law on Electronic Communications, which the National Assembly had adopted in late April, incited investments in the development of high-capacity and high-flow networks.
Broadband internet has become a universal service, and the law recognizes the role of the government and envisages incentives which will enable each house in Serbia to have the possibility of accessing fast internet.
