The minister of information and telecommunications of Serbia, Mihailo Jovanovic, and the general manager of Amazon (Amazon Web Services) for Europe, Cameron Brooks, signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the State Data Center in Kragujevac.

The prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic said that cooperation with companies such as Amazon “means that we will meet the things that are offered to citizens throughout the world in the sense of innovations much better and more readily.”

– The partnership with Amazon, a global IT giant, is something that opens a whole new door in the field of the digitization of public services and digitization in general and the support to the information-communications sector (ICT) in Serbia – said Brnabic.

Jovanovic pointed out that, with the signing of the Memorandum, the Government of Serbia and Amazon established cooperation in the field of innovations and economic development, based on the development and use of cloud-based technologies.

– Together, we will work on education and the development of digital skills in young people so as to develop cloud-based businesses and further improve the ICT sector in Serbia. Also, we will organize educational and training sessions and certified programs for the public and private sectors in the Republic of Serbia. We will also work on implementing the National Digital Strategy and the development of cloud-oriented businesses in an effort to strengthen the cloud-based legislative by improving the Law on eGovernment – Jovanovic said.

Brooks said at the signing of the Memorandum that he was glad that the company would support the visions through initiatives that would support innovations, contribute to the development of its digital economy, support the modernization of the out-of-date IT system and “develop digital skills for the future generations.”
