Telekom Austria not to offer minimum price for Telekom Srbija

Telekom Austria will submit a "tactical" bid on the tender for the acquisition of the 51% stake in Telekom Srbija, which will not meet the conditions imposed by the Ministry of Finance of Serbia, Austrian daily paper WiBlatt wrote, citing a person close to the company.

This move by Telekom Austria is seen as an intention to prevent bilateral negotiations between Deutsche Telekom and the Government of Serbia. In that way, Austrians will be active participants in a possible post-tender sale. Deutsche Telekom will also submit a bid, WiBlatt announced, citing persons familiar with this process in the German company. Elisabeth Mattes, the spokesperson of Telekom Austria, told WiBlatt that the company was still considering whether to submit a bid on the tender that would be closed at midnight. Officials of the Government of Serbia reiterated this weekend that they expected to receive minimum four bids for Telekom. The status of an official bidder on the tender is enjoyed by six companies - Telekom Austria, Deutsche Telekom, Turkcell, America Movil, Weather Investments, and France Telecom.
