Basta Requests Production of Electric Buses at Ikarbus to Start as Soon as Possible

The minister of economy of Serbia, Rade Basta, has requested the majority owner of Ikarbus, the Chinese company Yinlong, to have the remaining problems solved and to have the production of electric buses start as soon as possible.

Basta talked to the general manager of Yinlong, Yang Yian, at a meeting about the company’s plans to launch the production of electric buses at Ikarbus.

He requested the Chinese partner to have the remaining problems solved and to have the production of electric buses start as soon as possible so that Ikarbus would be revived and so that as many Serbian workers would be employed as possible, the ministry announced.

– The workers are impatiently waiting for the production of electric buses to start so that they and their families would start living better – Basta said and added that it was a great potential for Serbia.

Yang said that the company had serious plans for Ikarbus.

The press release says that the Chinese Yinlong is one of the world’s biggest producers of batteries for electric vehicles and a large producer of electric buses, electric trucks and electric delivery vehicles.

Let us remind that Yinlong became the majority owner of Ikarbus in 2019, when it was announced that the first electric buses would be produced at the Serbian factory by the end of that year.
