The Government of Serbia has submitted to the National Assembly the draft Law on Confirming the Agreement on the Loan Intended for the Demolition of the Old Tram Bridge on the Sava and the Construction of a New One.

As said, this pertains to the credit of EUR 79.91 million which is insured at the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation.

The credit is meant for the financing of the removal of the Old Sava Bridge and the construction of a new steel arch bridge, according to the website of the Parliament.

As the then mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, said in May this year, “of the seven bridges”, which, according to him, are planned to be built in Belgrade by 2030, by the end of this year or the beginning of next one, two new bridges will be built – the New Sava Bridge and the bridge at Ada Huja.

Vesic said back then for TV Happy that “the new Sava bridge will replace the old one and have four traffic lanes and two lanes for trams, so a total of six instead of the current two. In addition to that, it will have bicycle lanes and wide sidewalks”.
