Vucic Talks with World Bank Representatives About Continuation of Cooperation in Next Five Years

The president of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met this Friday with the delegation of the World Bank led by the country director for the Western Balkans Region, Linda van Gelder, on which occasion they discussed the frameworks of state cooperation with the World Bank in the next five years, the loan for the project of the development of local infrastructure and institutional development, the “Green Growth” project of the European Union, with a special focus on the development of the energy sector in the Republic of Serbia, it is said on the portal of the Presidency.

– Thanks to the successful cooperation with the world’s most important finance institutions, we have managed to secure an additional USD 380 million from the development banks of Germany and France for projects in Serbia – President Vucic said and added that, for the next five years, the realization of a framework plan worth USD 1 billion had been agreed. The plan encompasses projects of the development of local infrastructure and institutional development, energy efficiency, the modernization of the health, rail and mining sectors, as well as a loan for the development policy of green growth.

President Vucic emphasized that he expected support from the World Bank for the improvement of the energy sector of Serbia through the Scaling-Up Residential Clean Energy (SURCE) Project, which aims to increase energy efficiency in certain households in the whole country, it is said on the portal.
