Additional Terminals for Cargo Traffic at Horgos and Kelebija Border Checkpoints

The bilateral economic relations of Serbia and Hungary are based on joint infrastructure projects, growing Hungarian investments in the Serbian economy and a continuously increasing goods exchange, said the minister of economy of Serbia, Andjelka Atanaskovic.

Together with the minister of foreign affairs and trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, she presided over the 12th session of the Joint Commission for the Economic Cooperation Between Serbia and Hungary.

– Last year, Hungary was our sixth biggest trade partner and third among the EU states – she added.

Szijjarto said that the Hungarian government continued the program of development in Vojvodina, within which 16 Hungarian companies got a support of over EUR 56 million, it is said on the website of the Ministry of Economy. He also pointed to the huge importance of infrastructural cooperation and the project of reconstruction of the Subotica-Szeged railway, which is currently in the phase of the replacement of the old track with a new one, and expressed his expectation that the Belgrade-Budapest railway will be completed by 2025.

Szijjarto emphasized the importance of establishing the so-called green corridors at border checkpoints and added that the customs organs were in constant contact. He said that additional cargo traffic terminals would open and that new X-ray devices would be installed not long after at the border checkpoints Horgos and Kelebija.
