The market of gas in Serbia is stable, and there are also sufficient quantities of this energy source in the underground storage facility Banatski Dvor. Negotiations between Srbijagas and the Russian partner, Gazprom, about a new, long-term agreement by which a stable supply with natural gas in upcoming period will be secured, are in progress, Kojcic stated.
He said that several factors had led to the price increase in the European market.
He said that the winter period had been long, that there had been malfunctions on the gas pipelines by which this energy source is transported from Russia to the western Europe, making gas storage facilities in European countries nearly empty, but added that it would not reflect on the stability of supply in Serbia.
– The post-pandemic crisis has led to an increase in the prices of gas in the European and global markets, as well as problems with the delivery from Russia to European countries. In addition to that, the increased demand from China will also have an impact on the increase of the prices, because China wants to secure additional quantities of gas for its economy – Kojcic explained.
