National Architecture Strategy Being Prepared

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Engineers, has held a workshop for the members of the Working Group for the Preparation of the National Architecture Strategy in the Republic of Serbia. The aim of the workshop was to look into the key problems and their causes in the field of architecture policy, based on the prepared draft analysis of the current state, so that the analytical basis would be made more complete for the defining of the goals and the measures of the future strategic document.

Using the “problem tree” technique, the participants identified, through a discussion, the set of the main problems which have an impact on the quality of construction and architectural practice, analyzing the existing instruments in the field of planning and construction (from spatial and urban planning to certain aspects of construction and renewal of what’s already built), issues of importance when it comes to increasing the awareness of architecture and the architectural profession, as well as their position in the legislative framework and the society as a whole.

In the next period, activities toward the preparation of the Draft National Architecture Strategy will continue, and there’s also a plan to organize another workshop, with representatives of the Public Policy Secretariat of the Republic of Serbia, for the purpose of setting the mission, the vision and the goals of the strategy.
