The Austrian company "IC Consulenten" and "Mostprojekt" from Belgrade are in charge of building a bridge over the Danube in Novi Sad

The Austrian company "IC Cconsulenten" and "Mostprojekt" from Belgrade will jointly perform the tasks of the head engineers and project managers in building of a new bridge over the Danube in Novi Sad.

According to what has been told to reporters, during the signing of the contract, on July, 9th, concerning the business cooperation, at Novi Sad Institute for construction of the city, the entire contract value amounts to 150 million dinars.

According to Executive Director of the company "IC Consulenten", Peter Vecinger, Austro-Serbian consortium will manage the tender, on which the best contractor for building of the bridge will be chosen and they will try to have the project successfully completed.

As noted, the tender will be announced in several months, and after the elections of the company which will build a new bridge and tunnels from Petrovaradin side of the bridge, the deadline for completion of the project will be three years.

In addition to monitoring of the tender, the consortium will prepare all necessary documents and projects for the construction of access roads, as well as action plans for environmental protection and cultural and historical protection of the fortress in Petrovaradin.

The new bridge on the Danube River will be built on the columns of the Second World War destroyed bridge, "Franz Josef".

The bridge will have four traffic lanes and two tunnels under the fortress, and according to estimation of the city government, such a bridge will cost between 30 and 40 million EUR.

City officials explained that with the help of the new bridge, the traffic from the suburbs of the fortress will be displaced, which will be the best way to protect this famous cultural and historical complex.

Conceptual and other studies for the construction of this bridge were drawn up by the company "Ponting" from Maribor in 2009.
