The Draft Law on the Amendments to the Law on Excise Taxes was adopted at a session of the Government of Serbia. The proposal is for all strong alcoholic drinks, independent of the ingredients they are made of and the ethanol content to be taxed as per the percentage of pure alcohol measured at a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius in the finished product, whereby the treatment of all strong alcoholic drinks will be equalized.

With these amendments, the Law on Excise Taxes is being harmonized with the regulations of the European Union and Article 37 of the Stabilization and Association Agreement on fiscal discrimination, whereby it is proscribed that the European Union and Serbia are to refrain from implementing any measure or practice of internal fiscal nature by which products from one side are directly or indirectly discriminated against compared to similar products originating in the territory of the other side and revoke any such measures if they already exist, it is said on the government’s website.

Electronic Register of Agricultural Properties

The government has also adopted the decision to form the working group for the development and establishment of the electronic system eAgrar, which entails an electronic register of agricultural properties in the territory of Serbia.
