Greece has offered Serbia to participate in the construction of the future terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNT) in the Greek Port of Alexandroupoli and become an owner of a part of it, Novosti learns, as reported by Tanjug.

The location is 14.5 kilometers away from the Maritsa delta, only 30 kilometers away from the Turkish border and around 300 kilometers away from Thessaloniki.

As the newspaper reports in the Tuesday issue, the Greeks offer to Serbia to be owner of 20% of the terminal, whereas DEPA (Greek Public Gas Corporation) and BEH (Bulgarian Energy Holding) would receive the same percentage and the rest would go to private companies.

LNG would be transported by boat to the Port of Alexandropouli and then transported further to the terminal, which is 17.6 kilometers away, where it would be turned into gas and then further transported in that form.

The storage capacity should be at 170,000 cubic meters with an annual turnover of as much as 6.1 billion cubic meters of gas.

The terminal is connected by a pipeline to the Greek city of Komotini, from which the pipes branch toward the Bulgarian city of Stara Zagora and then to Dimitrovgrad and further to Nis, where Serbia would build its terminal.

Serbia might, as the newspaper adds, count on funds from European grants, as the project is in line with the conclusions of the European Projects of Common Interest, which is one of the priorities of the development of the energy infrastructure project of the EU, which has already been harmonized with Greece and Bulgaria.
