The Serbian government, the City of Subotica and Germany's Continental today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a new EUR 17 million investment of this company in Serbia and new jobs for 500 workers.
In the presence of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, the MoU was signed by Serbian Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic, Continental General Manager for Serbia Zivko Topalovic and Subotica Mayor Jene Maglai. Continental operates in Subotica since 2012, where they produce radiator parts for automobiles and employ 650 workers.
An agreement on the new investment, as Sertic said, will be signed within the next 30 days, and the factory should be opened in the second half of 2016.
The state will back this investment with EUR 3 million, whereas the local self-government, that is, the City of Subotica, will equip 2.5 hectares of land for the construction of new Continental factory.
Sertic said that Continental's obligation was to hire 500 new workers over the next three years and then, within the next five years, increase the number of employees in Serbia to 1,150.

Markus Murk, the vice president of Continental, the world's largest supplier of car parts, announced the possibility of further investing in Serbia by Continental which, as he noted, needed educated workers and was willing to invest in their training.
Serbian Economy Minister reminded that 450 German companies operated in Serbia, adding that Leoni, Stada, Bosch and Siemens were only some of those which were expanding their business in Serbia.
Since 2000, Germany has invested EUR 1.6 billion in Serbia and is one of its most important partners.
