German Tonnies starts construction of farms in mid-2015 - Farms to be filled as of November already
The foundations for five farms which German Tonnies will build in Serbia will be built in three months latest. The first facilities, as Novosti finds out, will be in Plandiste, Secanj, Odzaci, Calma and Apatin, and pigs breeding there should start in November. The company’s objective is to build 15 farms more in Serbia in the next year.
-Germans do not want to buy none of the agricultural combine which has been in
privatization since they want to build facilities in line with their standards –
the source of Novosti explains. Once a week, their experts visit Serbia and
they have developed business plan in details. They calculated it is more remunerative
to build then to renovate existing farms.
The Government of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce participate in negotiations with German investor which is planning to breed 80.000 pigs annually. They will, however, need much more pigs than they can produce and they are planning to make a wide network of cooperatives.
If investment of the German company runs smoothly, they will need a few hundred
employees to be hired on animal food production works to cattle breeding.
Therefore, they are considering the option to cooperate with the Agricultural school
from Futog at Novi Sad.
