According to the latest research, three out of four employees are unhappy with their jobs, and seven out of eight are not doing anything to change this, it was said at the lecture the American businessman Bob Chapman recently held for students at the Faculty of Economics.
– The boss is more important for your health than your doctor, as 74% of the total stress is caused by job-related problems and it is well known that heart attacks are more frequent by 20% early in the working week – Chapman stated.
A businessman and visionary, Bob Chapman was a guest of the Faculty of Economics, where he presented the model of “truly human leadership” to students. He advocates for traditional management practices to be replaced with the kind of leadership which entails care for the employees and conscientious and responsible management.
He first started implementing this leadership model at his company Barry-Wehmiller, a leader in the industries of packaging, engineering and IT consulting, which has grown since the 1980s from 20 million to 2.5 billion dollars in estimated value. This philosophy was subsequently adopted by numerous corporations and famous brands, the Faculty of Economics says in a press release.
– My vision is to “wake up” economics and business students, future business leaders, worldwide. It is a privilege to lead teams, a company and people, but it takes skills and courage. I came up with the idea of truly human leadership after several decades in business and a great life experience – Chapman said.
– Most company owners say that they want to change the traditional company-employees relationship, but most often don't know how to implement the changes. A total of 65% of the employees would more gladly see their boss fired than to get a raise themselves, 58% says that they more readily believe a stranger than their boss, and that is truly terrible! I want to replace the mantra “thank god it's Friday” with the mantra “thank god it's Monday” – said the guest of the Faculty of Economics.
Chapman presented his interesting and successful management philosophy in the book called Everybody Matters as an approach to leadership which focuses on people, where all team members feel valuable and integral to the company. Published in 2015, the book quickly became a bestseller and a must-read for leaders and managers worldwide.
