Stari Mlin writes new history - Discover future look of Radisson Blue Hotel in Belgrade (PHOTO)
(Stari Mlin complex) Situated between the Mostarska interchange and the building of BIGZ, Belgrade`s Stari Mlin (Old Mill) site is getting a brand new look. A Radisson Blue hotel is under construction on the foundations of the old mill, next to which a 12-floor business tower is reaching out to the sky. The Soravia Group is close to finishing the construction of the Old Mill (Stari Mlin) complex. As people at this company told us, finishing works on the facade are running parallel to interior works in both facilities.
And while we are awaiting the opening ceremony that is announced for the next fall, eKapija is opening the door to Radisson Blue Hotel for its readers! Browse our gallery to see the planned design of the exterior of these buildings as well as the look of the future restaurant, bar, congress room, hall...
The 25,000 square meter hotel that will operate under the name of Radisson Blue Old Mill Beograd will offer its future guests 236 rooms (including 15 suites), restaurant, bar, conference room with about 500 seats, parking lot, etc.
The business tower that is already famous for its glass facade will feature 3,400 square meters of office space for companies to rent.
As announced before, the plan is to finish the construction of this hotel and have it fully furnished by mid-2014. So-called soft opening is expected in August 2014, whereas the official opening ceremony should take place in September 2014, it was announced in October.
Thomas Swieca, the general manager of Belgrade-based Radisson Blue hotel, has been working on the pre-opening phase for a while.
Radisson Blue Old Mill is going to employ about 120 people, and it has already received a lot of applications.
By the way, the building of the Old Mill is declared cultural heritage of our capital, which is why its renovation and reconstruction are under the watchful eye of the Cultural Heritage Institute of the City of Belgrade.
Final designs for the Stari Mlin complex were prepared by the U.M.A-Architekten company in Belgrade, which is part of the UMA Group that is co-founded by Vienna-based U.M.A Architektur-Ziviltechniker GMBH.
Project by Sanjin Grbic and Jovan Jovanovic
Architectural urban project of 'Stari mlin' complex, according to which the building license was approved (in cooperation with the Institute for Cultural Monuments Protection and other relevant institutions), is a protected work of art by the architects Sanjin Grbic and Jovan Jovanovic (registered at the Architects Association of Serbia, in April 2007).
The investor has signed with them a contract on copyright usage project rights.
Based on architectural - urban as well as design project by Grbic and Jovanovic (employed at the time in 'Koling' company from Belgrade), Belgrade based company 'U.M.A-Architekten' has developed a detailed project design for 'Stari mlin' complex.
One more hotel still in the pipeline
We`ve asked one of Soravia Serbia managers, Bernhard Ebner, if their idea of building one more hotel in Belgrade, which we wrote about few months ago, is still current.
- We are still considering possible new investments. Various projects are on the table. One of them is the construction of another hotel in Belgrade – Bernhard Ebner confirmed to our web portal.
