Lasta opens hotel in Ljubovija - Construction of bungalows and regeneration of the Drina banks in the pipeline

Bus transportation company Lasta ceremoniously opened a namesake hotel in Ljubovija in late July. The former building of Ribotekst was reconstructed and turned into a tourist facility featuring 52 beds in 16 triple and two double rooms.

This facility is now open only to the employees of Lasta, but it will open its door to all other guests as of 1 September 2013.

The renovated facility already comprises swimming pools for adults and children. The plan for the following period is to build sports fields such as basketball and futsal courts, as well as auxiliary facilities, additional bungalows, and a multipurpose hall. The banks of the River Drina, which flows close to the hotel, will soon be regenerated, so that hotel guests will be able to bathe and sunbathe in designated locations.

Lasta Transportation Company CEO Velibor Sovrovic says to eKapija that as a responsible manager, he has always doing his best, regardless of the factors that negatively affected both management and operations of the company, to provide Lasta staff with the best possible working environment.

- Adaptation of the building into a hotel is not a caprice but a need. Given that Lasta Transportation Company alone has 3,578 employees with 1,437 of them being drivers who work in line with all safety standards and follow legal rules on working hours. They need to have a place to spend a night, the costs of which are already covered by the company. In these circumstances, our drivers will get the best accommodation possible, which will always be available to all our employees. However, this hotel will also soon open to people who want to escape from everyday life and enjoy themselves away from the crowded city.

As he announced, next steps include the construction of auxiliary facilities, regeneration of the Drina banks where this hotel is situated, and the construction of tennis and futsal courts.

The second phase of works is expected to start next year and see the construction of bungalows that will significantly boost both accommodation capacity and the number of employees, of which there are 12 at the moment.

Lasta operates buses to Ljubovija every day, including weekends, departing from Belgrade at 7.15 AM and 1 PM, as well as buses from Ljubovija to Belgrade via Pecka and Valjevo at 7.30 AM and 3.30 PM.
