Pearl of the Danube awaits investors - Negotin offers tourist and recreational complex development project
The municipality of Negotin has offered all potentially interested investors the project Pearl of the Danube, envisaging the construction of a modern tourist and recreational complex at the most beautiful part of the Danube, in the village of Mihajlovac. The Municipal Spatial Plan is finished, while the geodesic survey of the terrain is close to end.
It is a land spanning about 50 ha, on which, according to the draft urban design of architect Milan Raonic from the company Raum, a hotel complex should be built, comprising lodgings, ethno village, port with the port's administration, bank and post offices, souvenir shop, travel agency, clinic, cafe, restaurant, park, amphitheater, floating restaurants and, of course, parking lot for all visitors.
According to the words of Mr. Raonic, it will take 30 months to implement the project and build the entire complex, while it could be opened to visitors after only six months of construction.
Those fond of a bit more active vacation, Pearl of the Danube will, according to the current design, offer cycling tours and walks, while recreational athletes will have a contemporary sports and recreational complex at their disposal. This complex will comprise basketball, tennis and handball courts, and there will also be a sports club with a reception desk, locker rooms, squash courts, etc.
The future complex on the Danube will also comprise a marina and a marina club, numerous contents for water sports, a sand beach, a skate park, as well as great capacities for sports fishing and hunting. People at the municipality of Negotin say that an additional tourism potential of this area is the vicinity of archeological finds - from Neolithic settlements to Roman excavations, as well as wine tours and the tour of old wine cellars.
"During one season, 500 passenger ships heading toward the Black Sea pass through our country on the Danube and make stops at attractive locations alongside the banks", say the people at the municipality of Negotin.
Further development of this study will create conditions for investors to apply for grants of European funds for the project implementation. Aside from a cooperation with potential investors who would directly invest in this project, the municipality is also interested in entering into a public-private partnership.
