Together with its mother company Planinka AD, Prolom Banja Special Hospital continues to invest in hotel capacities in its spa resorts: Prolom and Lukovska. Last year they opened Jelak hotel in Lukovska spa resort and two outdoor swimming pools with thermal water. This season, Prolom spa resort will get completely renovated rooms, a restaurant that meets the European HACCP standard, as well as an indoor swimming pool with mineral Prolom water.

Planinka invested EUR 200,000 in the renovation of rooms in Prolom spa resort. These rooms now have new furniture, TV sets, refrigerators, etc. As the spa resort officials explain, constant following of trends was the reason for introduction of HACCP standard in the restaurant in which EUR 300,000 were invested. Complete kitchen at that restaurant was renovated to meet the European norms and make the spa resort ready for a larger number of foreign tourists.

As a crown of this beautification of the spa resort, works on the construction of an outdoor swimming pool have commenced. The value of these works is estimated at EUR 500,000. The decision on the swimming pool construction was made with the aim of improving the offer, primarily for younger guests. Although spa resorts have always been a synonym for older people's vacation, people at Prolom Banja say that the number of "younger" guests grows bigger every year.

As Prolom Banja Director Zlatko Veljovic says for eKapija, all investments are exclusively financed from Planinka's own funds. He points out that that company has been winning awards for years as the most successful company in its fields of work - the production of natural Prolom water and the health tourism in Prolom and Lukovska spa resorts. Over the past few years, significant funds have also been invested in the natural monument Devil's Town, which is also taken care of by the company Planinka.

According to the words of Director Veljovic, in addition to the quality of the natural factor - healing Prolom water, medicinal mud and climate, it is also necessary to constantly invest in the quality of services and, thus, satisfy the taste of a contemporary guest.

- Over the last few years, Prolom spa resort has been registering a constant growth of the number of foreign tourist. The most numerous are guests from Bulgaria, Macedonia and Slovenia, while the number of guests from the countries of Western Europe is growing as well. For example, the whole hotel is booked for early March for guests from abroad. In order to satisfy the needs of choosy foreign guests, we have put effort in introducing European standards and accompanying fun contents – says Mr. Veljovic.

Lukovska spa resort

In late 2009, a new four-star hotel was opened in Lukovska spa resort. This spa resort also obtained two new outdoor swimming pools with thermal water for the last season. Foreign investments in this spa resort, the youngest in Serbia, are giving good results so that the number of overnight stays grew by 50% last year.

In addition to guests who come here for the treatment of rheumatism, osteoporosis, spondylosis, there is also a growing number of young people who enjoy the stay at modernly-furnished hotels, magnificent nature and thermal water.

The services of this spa resort are used by numerous sports teams. It should also be mentioned that a handball camp and Jelena Gencic's tennis camp are organized every year in Lukovska spa resort.

Almost all guests of Prolom and Lukovska spa resorts go to visit Devil's Town, numerous tours of which are organized for hotel guests. The same as in Prolom spa resort, the number of groups and individuals from abroad who come to visit this natural monument is constantly growing because many travel agencies from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and other countries have included Devil's Town in their regular offer of excursions.
