Slankamen to Get Tourism Complex Inspired by Cardak-Type Houses – Closed-Type Residential Settlement with Pools Next to a Vineyard (PHOTO)
The rough construction works on the complex of the tourism settlement designed to function as a closed-type residential settlements, where each of the five facilities has its own yard, a space with a pool, but also shared features within the complex – a trim track, a shared vineyard, children’s playground, a space for meditation etc.
– One of the main requests of the investor is to secure an unobstructed view to the Danube from each unit, private yard spaces, and to fit into the local context with a modern design, which I hope we have managed to do – Nikola Novakovic of the Kotor-based architectural studio Enforma says for eKapija.
The inspiration is drawn from the cardak-type houses characteristic of Vojvodina, and our interviewee adds that, since this is a location fully defined by the Vojvodina-styled environment, that’s where they sought inspiration.
– Ever since the time of my studies in Novi Sad, I have been strongly attracted by the unusual structures I had the opportunity to see in yards, which have a very characteristic look and construction style. It is precisely in this type of structure that I found inspiration for the project, as the leitmotif for the entire complex. Our version of the cardak house secures the tenant’s privacy, but also contributes to the character of the whole complex.
It all started with the vineyard which is located within the complex.

– As the space meant for growing plants is separated from the building land, we had no problem fitting in the buildings with the vineyard. Since the facilities are defined as semi-dug-in, making them interwoven with the terrain, it was easy to merge such architecture with its immediate environment – Novakovic says.
This is not the first time that Enforma has been hired in our country. As eKapija’s interviewee points out, “we are always working on some interesting projects in Serbia”. In the past period, they have completed and realized the project of the interior of the Legat 1903 restaurant in Belgrade, the interior of a villa in Dedinje, a winery and distillery with a hospitality facility in Petrovaradin, and they are currently completing the project of a hotel and winery in Arandjelovac.
– We are also soon to start the project of a residential complex in Belgrade. We are always looking forward to new and challenging projects in Serbia – says Nikola Novakovic.
Among other things, the highlights of this studio’s portfolio are Hotel Mamula on the Lastavica island, the Frug winery in Novi Sad, the project of the first aquarium in Montenegro, and they are currently working on preparing the Master Plan and project within the largest investment on the Adriatic coast – Lustica Bay.
