Termalna Rivijera project in Bogatić - investment worth 80m EUR

It is more and more likely that Bogatić in Mačva will become the tourist center of that part of Serbia. Delta Agrar, La Verdura and Termalna Rivijera (Thermal Riviera) have announced construction of a tourist-recreation complex for rest and recreation that will be using the geothermal potential of this area. In addition, construction of greenhouses is also in the pipeline. Total surface of the whole complex is about 20 ha.

Termalna Rivijera started researching the potentials of two geothermal wells in Bogatić in 2008 in association with the Faculty of Mining in Belgrade.

After it got the results, the company decided to utilize that huge potential for the purpose of tourism and recreation and have a tourist complex built in that location, the construction of which is due to start in June.

The preliminary project has been elaborated by company Vezmar.

The complex will comprise two three-floor hotels at 6,600 square meters each, one of which will be for the rehabilitation purposes, while the other will include sports contents, and suite complex with 130 one-floor houses.

The guests of this tourist place will have at their disposal an extraordinary water attraction with indoor and outdoor thermal spas, an Olympic swimming pool and a swimming pool for kids, a pirate island, a beach with waves and a tower with a circular water slide.

Termalna Rivijera Bogatić will also include sports courts, bicycle, trim and pedestrian tracks, a parking lot for 930 automobiles, parking places for buses, an amphitheater and a business-tourist complex.

As it was explained to the media earlier, this company will employ about 150 workers in the first phase, while the estimates are that the construction of the whole complex will cost about 80m EUR and that about 550 people will get jobs once it is completed. The whole complex is expected to be finished in May 2012. This is also the biggest tourist investment in Serbia this season.

The founder and owner of Termalna Rivijera, Ljubiša Dragović, says that this complex will be open 365 days a year because geothermal water will be used to heat and cool both the complex and the water in swimming pools.

- For example, the well that produces 33 liters of water per second, of which temperature and power is 78 degrees Centigrade and 4 MWh, respectively, is equivalent to the consumption of 3,000 tons of crude oil that emits 9,600 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, while the crude oil consumption expressed in euros amounts to 1.35m EUR- say the people in that company.

The municipality of Bogatić will be obliged to pave about 800 meters of access road to the complex, as well as to build an electric grid.
