New spa complex on the Tisa's bank - municipality of Bečej plans construction of medical center, aqua park and hotel

Construction of new spa-tourist complex in Bečej on the bank of the Tisa river and Big Bačka Canal may start already in June 2010, and the tender for contractors for the works on the second geothermal water boring will be announced in mid-December 2009.

- Making of the plan for detailed regulation is underway, and it should be finished prior to April 2010 when the investors will be presented the plans for 30.6 ha of land that are intended for the future complex - Dušan Radivojević, the Municipal Council's member who is in charge of investments, told "eKapija".

- Bečej is interested in partnership with private investors, the municipality will provide 35m RSD for the works on the new geothermal water boring, while 12m RSD have been set aside for the plan for detailed regulation. We would also offer the land, whereas the future investor should provide between 50 and 60m EUR for construction of the complex - Radivojević explained.

He told "eKapija" that the future complex would comprise a medical unit (about 7-8 ha), indoor and outdoor aqua park, a hotel with 150-200 beds, and catering facilities. Thanks to geothermal springs, the spa will be good for the patients with cardiovascular, rheumatic and neurological problems.

- The new boring will be at the depth of about 1,050 meters, and we expect the temperature to reach 70 degrees Centigrades. It will be situated one kilometer away from the existing boring, in the location between the lock of Big Bačka Canal to the Tisa and the City Stadium - said Radivojević.

The future complex will be only 300 meters away from the existing Iodic spa with 100 beds, outdoor and indoor swimming pools and sports hall for mini sports.

The plan for detailed regulation for the location of new spa resort is being made by public company "Stankom" and the City Planning Institute of Novi Sad.
