No permit yet for construction of hotel in location of former building of Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs
The commencement of construction of hotel "Beograd Plaza" in the location of the building of former Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kneza Miloša Street is uncertain because necessary city planning and building permits have not been issued yet.
People in company "Plaza centers", which is supposed to build that hotel, told Beta today (March 23, 2009) that they did not know when the city authorities would issue the permits.
That Israeli company bought the complex of buildings of former Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade in August 2007 at the price of 29.1m EUR.
It has been announced that a five-star hotel will be built in that location and that 150m EUR will be invested in it. According to the plan, the hotel should have the surface of 100,000 square meters, a conference center, a glass restaurant with the view of Belgrade, a shopping mall and a business tower.
The representatives of "Plaza" expected that the construction of the hotel would start in 2008. Delays in issuing of building permits were justified by last year’s elections in Belgrade and long procedure of forming of the city government.
"Plaza" is unable to clean the location and prepare the terrain for construction of the hotel until it gets building permits.
