Beočin to become camping center – project for construction of tourist settlement on the Danube

(Beach on the Danube)

Municipality of Beočin, situated on the bank of the Danube and in the north part of the slopes of Fruška Gora mountain, has been declared the ideal destination for camping since it meets all European standards for development of that type of tourism. The Municipality has recently started implementation of the project for construction of tourist settlement Danube, and the Plan for detailed regulation will be finished prior to June 2009. Once it is completed, all interested investors will be able to apply for procurement of 5.5 ha of land intended for camping zone. Construction of a marina, gas station and service workshop in the vicinity of the camp is in the pipeline, as well as construction of all other contents that are typical for contemporary marinas.

- According to the preliminary solution, which has been designed by "Šid projekt", the camping zone will be divided into three parts. There will be an automobile camp, a camp for tents, and 15 to 20 pile dwellings for the use over winter, which will significantly enrich accommodation capacities in Beočin. The settlement will be situated only 200 meters away from one of the most beautiful beaches on the Danube, and construction of tennis courts and playgrounds is in the pipeline. A first-category marina will be settled on the right bank of the river from the direction of Hungary. It is a part of the project of the Provincial Economy Secretariat – says Ismet Ademovski from Beočin, and points out that the land is already owned by the Municipality.

In case of increased interest, Beočin can offer additional 1.97 ha of land to potential investors. He points out that the Municipality will provide complete infrastructure, and it is possible that the new substation will be built.

- Municipality of Beočin started cooperation with the Camping Association of Serbia and the Balkan Youth Association in 2008. Thanks to project "Camping tourism – project for sustainable development of national park Fruška Gora", Beočin has been declared the ideal destination for camping in Serbia. We are also included in the brochure for future investors, which was made by the Camping Association of Serbia and the Balkan Youth Association, and we represent one of the top-priority destinations, along with municipalities of Sremski Karlovci, Inđija and Šid.

The Camping Association of Serbia and the Balkan Youth Association have also started realization of "Camping tourism project in Podunavlje" in municipalities of Sombor, Apatin, Beočin and Sremski Karlovci, while the second investment level includes Novi Sad, Belgrade, Kladovo and Negotin.

(Project)

Beočin is situated on the slopes of Fruška Gora, only 17 km away from Novi Sad, which makes this destination very attractive for both tourists and investors. The investors from Israeli have, so far, expressed the greatest interest in this destination.

- The existing organized sand beach is about 200 meters long and, with relatively small investments, it can be stretched and become 600 meters long – says the collocutor of eKapija.

The camping tourism is the great potential of Serbia, especially when we know that there are only 10 camps at the moment, 5 or 6 of which are in operation. For the sake of comparison, Croatia has 400 camps, Hungary has 500, while France has as much as 11,000 camps – said he.
