Novi Sad, city host of Investexpo, to represent projects for development of bridge across the Danube, tunnel underneath Petrovaradin fortress, central city wastewater treatment unit and new marina on the Danube

At trade fair "Investexpo”, Novi Sad is going to represent the projects for development of a new bridge across the Danube and a tunnel beneath the fortress, construction of central city wastewater treatment unit and the project for development of new marina on the Danube.

The city should meet the river banks at the locations of Kamenička Ada and Ribarsko Ostrvo (Fishermen's island) and at the section between the navy and city bathing resort "Štrand“.

The geographic position of Novi Sad, the fact that it is the second largest city in Serbia and that it is the administrative center of Vojvodina and the South Bačka region, as well as indisputable economic, financial, scientific, educational and cultural center of the Province, have important effect on its development plans.

The capital city of Vojvodina is slowly losing its title of the industrial center and it is becoming the center of the third activities. Although the industrial production is present in as much as 27 branches, with dominant energy, food, metal-processing and chemical sectors, the driving power of Novi Sad are service activities (trade, banking, insurance business, transportation and tourism).

Since over 400,000 people live in the broad city area, surrounded by 15 suburban settlements, Novi Sad, as the second largest market in Serbia can create high level of demand to a significant extent. If we take in concern the positional advantages of Novi Sad: the vicinity of main highway routes (European road corridors E-70 and E-75 and railway route Vienna-Budapest-Belgrade) and passenger and freight ports on the Danube, it is then clear why the projects of the third sector are becoming dominant in Novi Sad's development plans.

At "Investexpo" trade fair, Novi Sad will represent several projects that should strengthen the city infrastructure. The most complex and, financially, the most demanding project is the project for development of the new bridge across the Danube and the tunnel beneath the Petrovaradin fortress. Realization of that project would disburden the central city zone and redirect the traffic from the critical city spots. The initiator of realization of this traffic project is the Institute for Development of City of Novi Sad.

The second project is construction of the central city wastewater treatment unit. The existing sewerage system for collecting and draining wastewater is made of several independent basins. The General land-utilization plan of Novi Sad anticipates construction of the central unit at location "Sever IV", between the old Kać road and the main highway E-75.

The third significant project for development of Novi Sad is the contraction of marina on the Danube. The marina will represent several mutually connected projects that should give the new tourist dimension to the capital city of Vojvodina. The marina should be built at the area between the Navy zone and "Štrand". Construction of commercial-business center, hotel complex and, maybe, another marina at the location of Kamenička Ada is in the pipeline. Ribarsko Ostrvo is intended for development of tourism, sport and recreation. Minimum development will be carried out at the unbuilt surfaces because the focu of the activities will be on the essential organization of this space.

The Institute for Development of City of Novi Sad will offer seven locations to the potential investors at trade fair "Investexpo", primarily for development of industrial production, handicrafts, service activities, civil engineering and trade.
