Karic family to build condo hotel in former trade union resort in Herceg Novi?
The Karic family, a family of Serbian businessmen headed by Bogoljub Karic, whose representatives visited Herceg Novi a month ago, are interested in building a condo hotel in Savina, Vijesti learns.
They are looking to build the hotel on the parcel of more then 6,500 square meters, which used to feature a trade union resort of EI Nis. They bought the parcel in the early 1990s, when they planned to build a 10,000-m2 Marriott hotel.
Municipal authorities first issued the location requirements to the family, and then reached the decision on having the Detailed Urban Plan prepared for the Pet Danica Promenade, within which the parcel in question was supposed to be defined.
The local self-government told Vijesti that there was no planning document at the moment in line with which urban and technical requirements might be issued according to the new Law on Spatial Planning and Construction.
Five years ago, the Karic family informally asked the then local self-government to have the parcel repurposed and to authorize the construction of apartments and market flats, instead of a hotel, but failed in their attempt.
Vijesti reports that the fact that the Karic family do not intend to give up on building market apartments is also shown by their intention to build a condo-hotel, which has at its core privately owned apartments sold by investors and then later rented by the owners in cooperation with the investors during the season.
