Mercure Belgrade Excelsior hotel opens
Mercure Belgrade Excelsior, the first hotel of the internationally renowned Mercure brand in Serbia, officially opened on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2017.
Mercure is a recognizable brand of AccorHotels Group. As emphasized at the official opening, the hotel brand's business policy is to cooperate exclusively with local distributors of food and drinks in each market.
The first Mercure hotel in Serbia opened thanks to the partnership between Orbis Hotel Group, the strategic partner of France's AccorHotels for East Europe, and LAMPSA Hellenic Hotels. The cooperation between French and Greek hotel companies will make Serbia the 96th country in which AccorHotels does business, it was said at the opening ceremony.
– It is our great pleasure to be able to open the first Mercure hotel in Serbia. The official opening of Mercure Belgrade Excelsior is a turning point, for both Orbis/AccorHotels in east Europe and the Mercure brand, which is entering a new and very promising market. The Excelsior hotel will, as part of the international Mercure family, contribute to the quality of hospitality in Belgrade – stated Sabina Bartyzel of Orbis Hotel Group.
(Tijana Maljkovic, CCIS, and Zafiris Lampadaridis, Mercure Belgrade Excelsior) The official opening was attended by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as business and hospitality communities.
Tijana Maljkovic, secretary of the Association of Tourism of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, estimated that the arrival of the Mercure brand to Belgrade would contribute to “promotion of the capital and the entire country”.
Mercure Belgrade Excelsior offers 73 rooms, a restaurant and a conference hall for now. Globally, there are over 750 Mercure hotels in 58 countries.
