Hotel InterContinental Ljubljana officially opens
(InterContinental Ljubljana) Hotel InterContinental Ljubljana officially opened at a ceremony on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, Delta Holding reported.
InterContinental Ljubljana is an investment by the Serbian company Delta Holding, worth EUR 50 million. The hotel has 165 rooms, a restaurant on the 20th floor and a spa center on the 18th floor with a view to the city. It is the only five-star hotel in Ljubljana and the tallest building in the city.
The hotel is owned by Delta Holding, but will operate in line with the standards, rules and criteria of IHG Group. It welcomed its first guests in late August and realized an average occupancy of over 50% in the first weeks.
– We all have a reason to be proud today, as we are officially opening the first InterContinental hotel in the area between Triglav and the Black Sea. I want to thank the Government of the Republic of Slovenia especially, as they provided us with the kind of working conditions here that all investors should have – said Marija Desivojevic Cvetkovic, Higher Vice President of Delta Holding.
The ceremony was attended by high state representatives of Slovenia and the countries of the region, the head officials of the City of Ljubljana, the highest representatives of InterContinental Hotel Group, embassies, the business sector and the media.
– A hotel such as this is not made by accident. It takes a lot of work, perseverance, effort and love for the hospitality business, which can be seen in this hotel and our people. Delta Holding is a very strong partner and we are very excited to be growing together here and in Serbia. I don't think there is a better partner than Delta for bringing InterContinental to Slovenia – said Andjela Brav, Chief Executive of InterContinental Group for Europe.
The guests were also addressed by Zoran Jankovic, mayor of Ljubljana, who had followed the construction of the hotel since the beginning, as well as Zivorad Vasic, who is in charge of the hotels in the region within the InterContinental Hotel Group and who said that the formula of success of InterContinental Ljubljana was the synergy between Delta Holding, IHG Group and the support provided by the City of Ljubljana, the press release says.
Let us remind that Ambassador of Serbia to Slovenia Vladimir Gasparic stated on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, in Nis that investors from Serbia had “rather serious and interesting plans for Slovenia. Banks, hotels and airports are being bought”.
