De Niro and Nicholson interested in SFRY residence in New York – Distribution of former state's property to be discussed in late April in Belgrade
Representatives of former Yugoslav republics should meet in Belgrade in late April in order to reach an agreement on the distribution of the remaining 51 pieces of real estate located abroad, worth more than USD 110 million, Politika writes.
Former Yugoslavia has 123 diplomatic and consular representatives, residences and apartments throughout the world, and 72 pieces of property have been distributed so far in line with the Annex B to the Agreement on Succession Issues. Serbia has received 30, Croatia 18, Slovenia and B&H 10 each, and Macedonia four facilities.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Veljko Odalovic, said for Politika that the exact date of the 19th meeting of the Joint Committee for distribution of diplomatic and consular property of the former SFRY had not yet been determined, but that the idea was for it to be held in late April or mid-May.
The newspaper writes that the Belgrade meeting should “push forward” the sale of the five most valuable facilities in New York, Tokyo, Bern and Bonn, the value of which has been estimated at USD 70 million.
According to the American press, actors Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson are interested in a six-room duplex apartment with four bathrooms on Park Avenue, New York.
The property and facilities in Addis Ababa, New Delhi and Moscow, over which there are disputes, as the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that the property in India and Russia can't belong to Serbia exclusively, should also be discussed at the meeting in Belgrade.
