(Future look of the Sun Valley settlement) The Sun Valley settlement, of over 15 hectares, will soon be raised in Zvecani in Kosovo. The Office for Kosovo and Metohija states that the plan is to build 200-300 residential units and an array of public facilities. The total surface of residential space will be between 16,000 and 20,000 m2, and the returnee settlement will have up to 1,200 residents.
The foundation stone for the construction of the Sun Valley settlement will be laid down on Thursday, June 9, by the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric, the Bishop of Raska and Prizren Teodosije and the head of the interim municipal authority of Zvecan Ivan Todosijevic.
The future settlement will be located at the foot of the ancient Nemanjic fortress, at the strategically important position between Kosovska Mitrovica and Zvecan. The wider area has a surface of 24.5 ha, whereas the complex itself will have 14.7 ha.
Side features have been planned for the settlement as well, among which are a children's institution of the surface of 1,136 m2, a social activity center, an ambulance and sports facilities (a sports club and locker rooms), which will lie on 200 m2 of surface. The plan also envisions indoor football, handball, basketball and tennis courts, with the possibility of the construction of a closed pool instead of a separate basketball court.
The Sun Valley complex will also get a 600 m2 mall. A location within the settlement was selected for the construction of a church.
The first phase of the construction of the residential complex is supposed to employ over 300 workers, states the Office for Kosovo and Metohija. The project will hire local construction companies and manufacturers of building materials. The realization of the project will stimulate the construction, or rather the reconstruction of the road infrastructure, and the increased economic activity will be important for local businessmen.
The agreement on the construction of the Sun Valley complex was signed on 12 July 2015.
