Backo Novo Selo, in the municipality of Bac, has been joined to Delta’s project Nase Selo from March 2022.
Delta Holding launched the project Nase Selo in 2018, with the aim of showing, through a concrete example, how Serbian villages can be modernized and their residents encouraged to stay at their properties. In the first cycle, the project encompassed Dubocane and Mala Jasikova, in the Zajecar area, where extraordinary results were achieved, based on which the decision was made to expand the campaign.
In Backo Novo Selo, the project will be joined by around 50 households. They grow crops, fruit and rear cattle. A majority of the farming land is taken up by crops, especially soybean; a number of residents grow strawberries, others grow apples, hazelnuts, plums…; several families grow vegetables, in plastic greenhouses and in the open, several are active in beekeeping, and one property also grows medicinal herbs.
Through the Nase Selo project, the residents will be primarily educated about modern agricultural production. Through a series of lectures and visits to their properties, they will learn about how to upgrade the feeding and care for livestock, the planting, the pruning and the harvesting of fruit, the sowing and the farming of crops and all the other elements which make for an efficient and successful agriculture.
The participants in the project will get an opportunity for favorable banking credits, in cooperation with Erste Bank, which is part of the project, with the support of Delta Agrar, which will take upon itself the paying of the interest.
